We are sorry to hear that you have issues while using our Newsletter Popup extension. Therefore we went ahead and carried out an investigation, here are the results:
From first sight it seems that you use confirmation subscription function in Magento (System > Configuration > Newsletter > Need to confirm (YES
) ) for guests, or for those who enters the email that is different from email associated with customer profile in Magento backend. To be exact, here's what is being checked at this point:
a) For registered customers - the system checks if ID of that customer matches the ID of the current customer (session ID). Also, if the customer is logged in at that time, and will be filling his email address in newsletter popup and inputs a different email address - the system will save that email with status "Not Activated".
b) For guest customers - the system will not allow to input an email of already existing customer. If this happens - "Not Activated" status will be assigned to that email address.
The solution we recommend you to try is to disable the "Need to confirm" option in Magento backend (System > Configuration > Newsletter > Need to confirm (NO
